How to "re-boot" your life

Being the true computer and techno geeks that we are nowadays, everyone is familiar with the “reset” of “Ctrl + Alt + Del”; but it’s also just as likely that you have had the wish at one time or another that you could “Reboot” life like you could your computer. No, you’re not trying to give up on life… you’re not suicidal or any such thing as that…. But maybe life has just been a bit overwhelming lately and like your computer, you’re just not running as smoothly as you should be. Like your computer, there could be some other obsolete or not used thoughts and things … just like outdated information and applications that run hidden in the background contributing to your anxiety and slowed down performance. But what is that elusive “reset”?

It’s taken me 50 years to find it, but I believe I have the solution. It is not difficult, it is not expensive, and it’s not even going to take as long as it would for the computer to go through the entire re-boot cycle. It’s just going to take you opening up your mind to forgotten or overlooked information that perhaps you have not accessed for a while.  It’s going to take you dusting off something that you may THINK you have a handle on, but you don’t. That thing is your faith in God, and your faith in salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Some of you reading this will not even make it far enough to read this sentence, let alone the rest of my blog; but for those that do, you may find something that you need. I know that I have spent my entire life to this point in what I had believed was living a good Christian life. I was born and raised Catholic, but I was not a practicing Catholic. I was satisfied with my personal and individual faith. I prayed to god during rough times, I asked for his help in times of trouble… but I also was troubled and a bit stand-offish as well, because I felt that I may or may not be “good enough” to be pleasing to God. I know I had my bad habits and vices…. But I still believed…and kept to myself. I HATED those “holy-er than thou” bible thumpers who pushed their faith on you…and I still tell you I am NOT one of those…. But I also am honest with you now in telling you that I am sharing this with you… NOT to convert you, or force you to see or do anything…. I only ask you to open your mind to the tremendous potential you have in acting on developing your relation with God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
So what then is my epiphany with regard to “re-booting” our life? It too is a 3 phase reset procedure…
1.       Control – take charge of your mind with regard to renewing your faith in God through prayer. You may already pray, I know I did… but this time, pray every day to be renewed in your faith, and your desire to live a better life through the guidance and direction of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2.       Alternate – you take time for yourself every day, take time to get back to a community of faith… find a church you feel good in and GO to Church. Alternate your time giving some special time you set aside to improve your faith.  Now is the time to join in the fellowship and community of God’s faithful. Realize that everyone else that is attending is also flawed… accept that, and accept them for who they are. Be genuine, and you will be amazed at what good people and friends you will find there.
3.       Re-dedicate yourself – As I said before, I was born and raised Catholic… and I was baptized as a baby (when I had no input or choice); but I have decided to be baptized into my faith as a Christian again in MY church (Clear Creek Community Church). I want to profess my faith publically. Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of sin… ALL man’s sin… Past, Present AND Future. Yes, you read that right… I (and the Christian Church I belong to) believe that God has forgiven ALL of my sins…. Including the ones I have not even committed yet. How then could I not be assured salvation through Christ?
Remember this folks… life is a terminal condition… no one gets out alive. Make the most of this life then, and live it with a renewed faith in God the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that is all around and in us. Reboot and rededicate yourself to your faith… and you will soon see that just as re- booting your computer makes it run smoother… by re-booting your faith, you will run better too.
I double dog dare you to try this…and I hope you will let me know how well it works for you… I will pray for you, and send my love through Christ to help you as well.
And just FYI… I have my baptism scheduled for my birthday 10/10/10 …. What could be better on a magical day like that?

getting back to the blogosphere

Greetings everyone! WOW, it has been a LONG time since I posted here... last post was 2006.... OMG that is ancient, and so very much has happened in my life since then.

Since becoming an economic casualty, (like 4.4 million others, I have lost my job due to the economy), I have been back to my techno ways of searching and posting on the internet.... but now there is so much more to keep up with.

I am hooked up and hooked on Twitter, Facebook, My Space, and my personal favorite, 12seconds.tv. ah what a wonderful way to keep in touch with the pulse of an ever changing society... not just nationally, but globally.... it truly is a marvel that we can communicate with our brothers and sisters around the world.

I am an open minded political entity myself... but while I am happy and optimistic about Barack Obama's election and actions to make positive change... I am a liberal in the heart of "republican conservatism" here in Texas... far too many nay sayers and "Disciples of Rush."

I am looking for a brighter future, and have faith we will recover… to that end, I have begun a new web site http://help-us-recover.com and while there is nothing posted yet, I intend to make that a place to share positive thoughts and actions to help the United States recover to its former position as a world leader and respected global neighbor. WE THE PEOPLE hold the key to our recovery…. Together we can continue the positive change that has already begun.

videobloggingweek2006 - Rob Reedy "A Parenting Trick"

Watch the video

In keeping with the VBlogger's theme this week of "dangerously", I will do something that in Vblogger's terms could be seen as "dangerous"... I am posting a "rerun" of my most popular "story".... "A Parenting Skill".

For those who have not seen it... you may enjoy the humor in it, but if you apply this technique in today's world... you could be prosecuted for "child abuse". (Relax... it's not THAT bad.....)

And, Yes... this is part of MY Legacy.

videobloggingweek2006 - Rob Reedy "Legacy - Juneau Home"

Watch the video

In keeping with the VBlogger's theme this week of "dangerously", I am doing something I normally would not do... I have used a professional artist's music (which I purchased for NON-commercial use") to add to my personal video.

This is part of MY "Legacy", because I lived in, and will move back to Juneau, Alaska just as soon as I possibly can.

The beauty of the video is only enhanced by the lovely song "Home" by Michael Buble. If he or the recording industy require me to take it down, I will.

Watch the video
While Jesus departed this life in 1998, Rosa is still living a full and rich life with us. This is dedicated to them and their over 50 years of marriage... a TRUE accomplishment in this day and age.

We want to go home to Juneau

Watch the video

I have not had a chance to set up a blog in a little while, but I wanted to let you all know I am still here.

Things have been keeping me rather busy, but especially after the hurricanes down south here last year, my wife and I most assuredly want to go back to Juneau, Alaska...

This video shows you that.

The Birth of BETA - Rob Reedy's VBlog 2/21/06

Watch the video

This is Tesss, our Toy Fox Terrier, and this VBlog shows me assisting as midwife for the birth of BETA (Tess' second pup of her second litter).

This time around, Tess had just 2 pups, both females, and if you look closely during the film, you will see "ALPHA" under Tesss, just enjoying her first meal while BETA is born.

AAAAHHHHH the joy of life....

I'm Rob Reedy, and these are my thoughts
